I am not surprised by this major New York Times expose on returning military veterans from America’s operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. The writers — Deborah Sontag and Lizette Alvarez — have found that returning vets have killed (or have been charged with killing) 121 persons in the U.S.

This was strange exchange between a “senior administration official” traveling with President Bush in the Middle East and a journalist today in the United Arab Emirates at the Emirates Palace Hotel.
