More time….More time….More time….and Bolton Hearings Get “Messy”

-

This just in….The hearings on John Bolton are most likely being rescheduled. This is not official. The current unofficial plan is to schedule the hearings on Monday, 11 April.
This is good. Given the fact that the Senate may not be operating at full capacity and probably with no scheduled votes, some Senators may not attend these first hearings — which can cut both ways — but it almost assures two things: (1) C-Span coverage and (2) a likely second day of hearings when all of the Senators are indeed present.
C-Span is more likely when there are high profile hearings and there is little going on in the Senate or the Senate is not even in session.
More time to call your Senators….all of them, but if any of you have any connection to Rhode Island or Nebraska, let Lincoln Chafee and Chuck Hagel know that they represent the kind of leadership that this country needs and that they should have the fortitude and good sense to make tough decisions on good and bad appointments that President Bush passes to Congress for confirmation. Bolton is one of the worst that could be imagined.
Here are some numbers:
Senator Lincoln Chafee, Rhode Island (202) 224-2921
Senator Chuck Hagel, Nebraska, (202) 224-4224
More to come.
