Wow. This could be big. The conversation the right on the Afghanistan War is really beginning to happen. Huckabee could be No. 23.

The Rev. Huckabee always misplaces passion for sensibility. See also, his Wayne Dumond pardon and falling back on Christianity as a excuse for politically motivated action.

I wonder how many Israeli leaders will be misled into thinking the hopes of those who want to hold on to the West Bank forever

“So although Huckabee is an ordained minister, he is obviously a fraud, and should not be considered a religious fanatic, but a fraud who wears a mantle of Christianity so he can promote himself”
    Fraud, fanatic…..
No matter, as the new blog protocol prohibits posting an accurate appraisal of the man.
Besides, as long as it takes for a comment to appear, advancing old age may have shaped a different opinion by the time a comment posts. Kinda like looking at a star, and knowing you’re seein’ what it USED to look like.
And seeing as how I’m just prattling anyway, I just don’t get this Kadaffi guy. Why the hell doesn’t he just dump white phosphorous on these protesters, and get himself back into Washington’s good graces? If he sautes enough of them, we’ll even send him a large stipend, and tattoo “Ally” on his ass.

  4. Warren Metzler says:

POA calls Mike Huckabee a religious fanatic. I would like to challenge that, and propose he is a religious fraud. I am a Christian, and one of the most basic elements of Christianity, what the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians, 13, calls the most important aspect of Christianity, is love. And New Testament love comes from the Greek word “agape”, which means to extend yourself to each person you encounter, to do your best to facilitate that person’s development and success in life; well described by the golden rule: “do onto others as you would like them to do to you”.
It is the antithesis of agape love to consider it reasonable for one group of people to oppress another group.
So although Huckabee is an ordained minister, he is obviously a fraud, and should not be considered a religious fanatic, but a fraud who wears a mantle of Christianity so he can promote himself.

“Huckabee…backed the settlers’ view that they have the right to
build anywhere in “the place that God gave them…”
Most folks who claim God told them to do this or that get
    dismissed as being deranged.

Stoller misses a little bit on the layoff notices — many states have notification laws, and so lay off notices go out to everyone just in case there will be lay offs. It’s not generally the case that everyone will be fired.
This small point doesn’t detract at all from the rest of this piece, which is really worth the click through.

WigWag, you missed the statement Huckabee made “if I
were president, I would move the American Embassy

Huckabee is a religious fanatic. His public statements buttress my appraisal of him, and his pilgrimages to Israel to pay homage to zionism pretty much zinch the deal.
His zealotry makes him far too dangerous for public office. God help us if he manages to evangelize his way into the Oval Office.

Steve, I just never would have guessed that you were such a Mike Huckabee fan. The other man from Hope is beginning to grow on me too!
This is from the Associated Press about three weeks ago.

  12. Don Bacon says:

The seemingly endless war in Afghanistan is off ‘most everyone’s radar screen, what with US domestic problems and foreign upheavals, so that should — should — make AfPak a dead duck. Unfortunately there are other interests, namely those who profit from war, plus the Empire’s push into Central Asia. “Support the troops” seldom fails as a stopper for any movement toward peace.
Hey, at least we’ve got The Huckster. His decision must have been okay with you-know-who.
