TPM’s Golden Duke Nominees

-

Later today, Josh Marshall will be announcing the winners of his spoofy “Golden Duke Awards” — named for the now-in-jail scion of the corrupt fringe of America’s military industrial complex, former California Congressman Randy “Duke” Cunningham.
Above are the nominees — outlined by Josh — and his categories are fun, but the roster of personalities is a good primer on all the mess we’ve been through this last year.
More when I get to New York. Happy New Year!
— Steve Clemons

His coverage of the Democratic party’s nomination was tainted by early veiled attacks on all of Obama’s opponents.

What an AG Edwards would have made. What an AG or SEC Chairman Spitzer would have made. We have lost two very fine public servants just because of pecker problems.

1] Axelrod used info from garnered from ex Edwards aids to sick the press onto Edwards sex life. Oppo research on the sex lives of his opponents is technique Axelrod has used repeatedly in all his recent campaigns. Axelrod = Atwater = Rove.
2] The “Patriot” Act makes rummaging through political opponents personal lives easy.
3] The American mass media is obsessed with personality, because it is a quality that is so much easier to understand than policy or position papers.
Doesn’t it occur to anybody, that people who could change the system [not to be confused with slogans uttered on the campaign trail] wind up in these scandals or dying on aircraft.
Don’t go along, get along folks have sex lives too?

I’d nominate Josh Marshall for his own “Golden Duke Award”,

I read Josh from his first day as a blogger, I now understand that Marshal’s a self serving blog has been a stepping stone to becoming a mainstream media hack.
I’m done with Blogs 1.0, Josh Marshall ethics hardly rise to the level that he should stand in judgment of anyone

Yep: had a pretty tough exchange with JMM. He denied his anti-Clinton/pro-Obama stance. My email must have triggered something because he was apoplectic.

What’s sad is that anyone takes JMM seriously
anymore. In the last year he has destroyed his
    credibility beyond redemption.
unfortunately, JMM is Steve’s “blogfather” — so
Clemons has to pretend that Marshall isn’t simply
an Obama sycophant… I mean, when it come to
lies, Obama told some real whoppers (like he never
said he liked single payer) that TPM either
completely ignored or downplayed, when it comes to
corruption there is always Rezko (and when it
comes to chutzpah, there is the “greatest speech
on Race EVAH!” accompanied by his campaign’s
“race-boating” of the Clintons) and the list goes
    on and on.

His lies about Hillary were unforgiveable.

Josh Marshall’s delivery is priceless. I first discovered Josh Marshall on Al Franken’s show when it was carried on Sundance Channel. Miss that show, but looking forward to Senator Al Franken, once Norm Coleman and John Cornyn have finished uglying things up as much as possible.
