These Soldiers in Afghanistan Should Entertain at Next Year’s WHCA Dinner

-

Be all that you can be. I love this video.
These soldiers are in Afghanistan — blowing off steam. Creative. They would be awesome entertainment at next year’s White House Correspondents Dinner.
Drop the comic stuff. President Obama has that covered.

Just a minor point: They were Airmen, in the USAF, not Soldiers, who are in the army. You can tell from the digital patterns on the pants and the color of the boots.
Describing them as “service members” cuts it. “Soldiers” does not.

True Steve. And I’m glad you encouraged Jane Mayer to write that
book. I remember reading her initial article about Addington in
the New Yorker while visiting New York in June 2006 – feeling
that slow- motion-shock typical while reading the best New
Yorker articles – thinking: “Yes, she nailed it!”

Thanks Paul — that’s right. I have never seen “24”, but I never needed a filter to understand Cheney and Addington. best, steve clemons

Speaking of pop cultural analphabetism – I think Steve is fine.
The only thing that really surprises me is that he never saw “24” –
almost indispensable if you want to understand the Cheney
    mindset.

Pangloss — Thanks for playing. Humor is humor. I was bothered by the attacks on Jim Jones for his joke at WINEP, and I have not been deeply disturbed by Barack Obama’s humor — which I thought was human and edgy. That said, I’ve never been that good at humor — but it’s clear that you may be worse off than me. And Howard, you may be worse off than Pangloss. All best, steve

BTW Steve, with no comment on the soldiers’ routine, it is not necessary to feel ignorant re Lady Gaga. The older we get, the more we get to ignore/be unaware of the latest no talent fad. In fact, it’s a sign of mental health.

Your idea sounds fine as long as we bring all the other servicemembers back from Afghanistan so they stop being killed for no good reason.

Re: your comment that Obama has comic stuff covered, did you
hear what he said? I suspect you did & found nothing offence which
implies to me that you’ve been in DC too long and have lost any
connect you may ever have had to actual human beings.
