On the Town

Steve Clemons and Alexander Hamilton.JPGMany thanks to Ambassador Lucky Roosevelt, Chairperson of Blair House Restoration Committee and the former and longest-serving Chief of Protocol for the United States, for inviting me to a terrific semi-annual Blair House “thank you reception” for donors.
The event featured Jill Biden and drew many of DC’s elites, particularly from earlier generations. I loved it.
I’ll be posting some pictures I took there in the coming days — but I wanted to post this one today of an Alexander Hamilton bust and myself. I have tremendous admiration for what Hamilton achieved in his time. Jefferson’s bust was just further down the shelf — but I couldn’t get that old jingle out of my head, “Washington reigned, Hamilton ruled, and Jefferson complained.”
More tomorrow.

    Chuckling, here.
    TWN comment section, neutered. Yaaaaaaawn.
Hopefully, its still OK to dilineate between the “regular folk” and the ruling elite.
I find being lumped in the same class as Ben Nelson extremely insulting.

Nice to see that the comment restrictions have been removed.
It has been a shame that, as Paul Norheim says,

Don’t know what you mean Paul? My comment is getting posted as we speak! (we’ll see) I notice a slight smirking resemblance between Clemons and Hamilton. Coincidental I’m sure.
Just think of all that adrenalin saved in not debating the hot issues of the day, e.g., all the ‘who shot John’ ( no pun . . .) over bin Laden, and the ensuing political master strokes of the usual political masters (no compliment intended). BTW, I see that Seal team 6 is worried about the consequences of their involvement putting them at risk; time for a military witness protection program, eh?. Well, duh. And the plutocratic masters of the universe are working overtime to reinforce that the threat of terrorists killing us in our beds is heightened rather than diminished, blah, blah. Pretty soon there will be full body scanners on the Amtrak between NY and DC — except for Joe Biden and the powerful no doubt.
And so endless war rolls endlessly along.

As for the Hamilton bust and the blurry picture of Steve Clemons, I have to admit that I have nothing noteworthy to
say right now, but I’ll say it (i.e.: NOTHING) anyway, knowing that my words will be moderated and hopefully
published in a week or two (barely visible among a dozen off topic random reflections by “Questions”) on this
formerly lively, highly partisan, personal, vulgar and noisy bar – now transformed into a boring vegetarian non-
smoking area filled with nervously polite, but nevertheless still absurdly delayed comments. I’ll check in here again in
a couple of months, to see if this site has been revitalized.
In the meanwhile: keep smiling & enjoy your sushi!

Chris Parnell’s satirical rap “Lazy Sunday Afternoon” contains the
immortal line, “Call us Aaron Burr from the way we’re dropping
Hamiltons,” that is, spending $10 bills.
