MERRY CHRISTMAS!

-

annie xmas.jpg
This is a special pic of Annie pup a few years ago.
I want to wish all a very safe and happy holiday, a great Christmas and a high sizzle New Year.
I am off to Los Angeles now – though I’m writing this from San Francisco. In a few days, I’ll be off to spend some time with friends in Carson City, Nevada — and will watch my friends ski at Squaw Valley. I’m too afraid of running into a tree to do that sort of thing — but I’ll be blogging with lots of snow around.
And then, I’ll be flying on New Year’s Eve morning to New York where I’ll be for the first moment of 2009.
All the best to everyone.

The power outage we suffered last night is a precurser of harder times to come. Our infrastructure is failing. It is painfully obvious that this nation cannot continue on its present course without experiencing further decline domestically, and irreversable loss of our world standing.

This is the sixth Christmas our troops have spent in Iraq. Yesterday one American GI was killed, 10 Iraqis were killed, and 47 were injured.
In this six years we have spent trillions pursuing an illegal war, while our economy collapses, and our infrastructure deteriorates. Have we forgotten that these lyin’ sacks of shit in the Bush Administration told us it would be over in months?
Yesterday, at 4:00 pm, when Christmas dinner was in the ovens for thousands of our neighbors here in the Tehachapi mountains, the power went out, and remained out until mid evening, effectively ruining Christmas night for thousands of families.
How long will we allow the criminals in Washington to ignore the welfare of the masses in their pursuit of global power, corporate profits, and military expansionism?
The power outage we suffered last night is a precurser of harder times to come. Our infrastructure is failing. It is painfully obvious that this nation cannot continue on its present course without experiencing further decline domestically, and irreversable loss of our world standing.
Without holding our leaders accountable to the law and to the people, it is impossible to imagine that we have any hope of halting, slowing, or reversing our decline. Barack Obama did not get where he is today through an indifference to power. If our highest leaders are given the window through which to abuse their powers, they WILL abuse their powers. Neglecting to investigate, indict, prosecute, and punish the Bush Adminisatration for the blatant crimes and abuses of the last eight years provides just such a window for the incoming administration.
If Dick Cheney and George Bush are not held accountable, we will never recover. Our leaders will hold themselves above the law from here on out. It is that simple.

Merry Christmas. Today we celebrate the birth of Jesus, blessed in the knowledge we just slaughtered over a million human beings, destroyed an entire infrastructure, and poisoned an environment with deadly DU dust, affecting the health of countless generations of future Iraqis.
What would Jesus think of us? Not much, would be my guess.
Wouldn’t it be nice if Obama made accountability his belated Christmas gift to the Iraqi people, the world community, and the citizens of the United States?
    Ain’t gonna happen.
So ponder, on this day of spiritual reflection, what we were supposed to be, what we have become, and what we are going to be.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
